Advertising flyers: design, printing and useful distribution

Several colourful advertising leaflets laid out on a surface

A flyer has limited space and only a few seconds to earn attention. Give it one clear purpose: introduce an opening, invite someone to an activity or explain an offer. Decide what the reader should do next and how you will recognise a useful response before starting the design.

One message, followed by usable details

Lead with the proposition, add essential information and finish with a practical action: an address, phone number or short link. For an event, the full date and location are more useful than a string of enthusiastic adjectives. For a promotion, make its duration and relevant conditions easy to find.

A QR code can carry the detail, but test it from the printed version on several phones and provide a readable alternative. The destination page should deliver what the leaflet promises without another search. If producing several language versions, keep the essential information consistent.

Check the file and the physical size

Agree the finished dimensions, paper, printed sides and finishes with the supplier. Obtain its file requirements before exporting. Adobe’s guidance on bleed explains how artwork relates to the trim edge; use the measurements and marks your printer requests.

Print a full-size test to check small text, contrast and QR scanning. Review names, prices and dates separately from the layout. A desktop print is not a guarantee of production colour, so ask about a representative proof if colour accuracy matters.

Give the distribution a purpose

Order a quantity with a defined destination and record where copies go. Ask permission before leaving leaflets in businesses and check municipal conditions before distributing in public space. Madrid’s outdoor advertising information is a source to consult, not permission to distribute.

Should you print another batch?

Compare total costs with useful responses using a dedicated link or reference code. Separate enquiries, bookings and sales; they measure different outcomes. No print run guarantees customers. Our practical guides offer more help with choosing services.

Illustrative archive photograph. Printed prices and promotions are not current offers; production is not attributed to a particular company.
