Opening a dental clinic in Madrid: preparing a business plan

Cuaderno, calculadora y ordenador en una mesa: ilustración editorial generada con IA

Opening a dental clinic in Madrid means coordinating two plans: one for clinical care and another for the business that supports it. Equipment and an attractive website cannot make either plan work on their own. Before committing money, turn the idea into questions you can answer: which services, which team, which premises and what capacity to absorb setbacks?

Define the activity before choosing premises

Draft the proposed service list with the person responsible for clinical care. For each service, note staffing, space, equipment, consumables and work required after an appointment. This can reveal dependencies: adding a service may involve considerably more than buying a machine.

The Community of Madrid distinguishes installation and operating authorisations. Operating authorisation is required before activity begins; the premises, building work and equipment determine additional requirements. Check the official guidance and your project with qualified professionals before assuming a property is suitable. This guide does not replace that assessment.

Separate initial spending, running costs and available cash

Divide the budget into three groups. The first covers spending before opening: design, fitting out, equipment and launch preparation. The second covers recurring commitments such as rent, staffing, utilities, maintenance and administration. The third covers activity-related costs that need supplier quotations.

Beside each item, record where the number comes from, when payment would fall due and whether it is a firm quote or an estimate. A list without payment dates can conceal a cash shortage even when its total looks manageable.

Test a less favourable scenario

The free DGEIPYME Business Plan tool helps organise a project and explore financial scenarios. Whatever tool you use, build a version where opening is delayed, appointments fill more slowly or an expense increases. These are tests of your plan, not forecasts of the dental market.

  • How long could you meet commitments before reaching the activity you expect?
  • Which purchases could wait without compromising necessary care?
  • What happens if a team member is unavailable?
  • Who will check the forecasts, contracts and tax obligations?

Monitor organisation without pressuring treatment decisions

Business monitoring can cover waiting times, cancellations, administrative problems and outstanding payments. Clinical decisions require their own professional judgement; a revenue target does not justify an unnecessary procedure. On the website, explain services and contact arrangements, keep details current and avoid promising Google positions or clinical outcomes.

What the earlier Mirasierra example actually establishes

The previous Spanish article presented Ramos-Catalina as a financial and search-ranking success without accounts or performance measurements. Its contact page, checked on 22 September 2026, identifies the clinic at Calle de la Senda del Infante, 27, Madrid. That establishes neither profitability nor a particular business strategy. The unsupported conclusions have been removed, leaving practical questions for someone planning their own project. For the patient’s perspective, see our guide to comparing dental clinics.
