A search for private schools in Barcelona should begin with your family’s needs: educational stage, learning approach, languages, support and daily travel. Geography matters too. Some schools found under Barcelona searches are in other municipalities, which can make a substantial difference to the school day.
Three different settings and approaches
El Til·ler describes a Waldorf educational project in Bellaterra, at Apel·les Mestres, 11. It is outside Barcelona municipality. Consult the school’s published stages and ask how its approach translates into a typical day for your child’s age group.
Benjamin Franklin International School is in Barcelona and describes English-language teaching with an American and international curriculum. Its main address is Martorell i Peña, 9; admissions information gives a visitor entrance at Passatge Torras i Bages, 4. Confirm the meeting point when arranging an appointment.
Agora Barcelona International School is in Sant Esteve Sesrovires and belongs to Globeducate. Ask about the stages, pathways and languages relevant to the year you are considering. Barcelona in the school’s name does not mean its campus is within the city.
What to compare during a visit
- How lessons are organised and how families receive information about progress.
- Which languages are used for teaching and what support is available to new language learners.
- What assistance the school can offer for particular needs and how it is agreed with families.
- How pupils move between stages and what later pathways require.
- How meals, transport, activities and collection times work.
Ask to see examples of learning materials and request an explanation of assessment. A prepared visit reveals more than a list of facilities or a general claim of excellence.
Check the full budget and the journey
Request a complete annual cost breakdown, including registration, tuition and additional items, with optional services identified. Confirm deadlines, documents and admissions terms directly. Making an enquiry does not mean a place has been secured.
Estimate the journey at actual arrival and collection times rather than relying on map distance. If a school bus is available, ask about stops, journey duration and whether your area is served.
