Call before travelling to explain the problem, the animal’s species and whether immediate care is needed. Confirm where to report and the consultation charge; 24-hour emergency care does not mean every specialist is continuously available.
Los Madrazo
Calle Cedaceros, 5. Telephone: 914 293 502. Its general medicine page describes initial assessment and possible referral to specialists. When checked, the published hours were Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00, with closure on Saturdays and Sundays.
This guide therefore does not describe it as a 24-hour walk-in emergency service. If you need a particular test or specialty, ask whether it is provided there, requires a separate appointment or involves a referral.

Calle Caleruega, 97. Telephone: 917 668 774. This hospital’s website distinguishes consultation hours from in-person emergency care, advertised as available 24 hours, including Sundays and public holidays.
Check the full address because similarly named centres exist. For a referral, ask which records are required and how to coordinate with your usual vet.
Useful questions when comparing centres
- Animal and problem: do they treat this species and issue, or recommend another centre?
- Clinician: who will conduct the appointment, and when are they available?
- Tests: are these done on site, or will another journey and appointment be required?
- Hospitalisation: if proposed, how is the animal monitored and how will you receive updates?
- Estimate: what does the initial visit include, and which tests are priced separately?
Prepare for an appointment without delaying urgent care
For a planned visit, gather earlier reports, current medication details and a description of the changes you have noticed. Ask whether to bring a sample or follow instructions before a test; do not improvise preparation.
