A school trip needs more than an appealing title. Teachers need to know where pupils will be, what they will do and how the activity fits the school timetable. Use this guide to prepare a Monkey Donkey enquiry without assuming that unbooked services are included.

Two formats with different practical needs

La herencia del tío Harold is presented as a portable team puzzle game that can come to a school. El misterio de Goya uses a fictional investigation around Paseo del Prado or El Retiro. Its stolen-painting story is a game premise, not a news report or a historical account to teach as fact.

Request the exact start and finish points, approximate walking distance, road crossings, rest areas and an alternative if the park closes or the weather prevents the outing. Coach timings need to allow for arrival, headcounts and toilets as well as the game. Agree who supervises each group and how staff communicate if groups become separated.

Choose a small, observable learning aim

Instead of promising that a trip improves every skill, choose something to discuss afterwards: how pupils divided tasks, explained a clue or listened to another suggestion. A short class discussion can reveal what actually happened without turning the provider’s promotional statements into an assessment of learning.

What to request in writing

Include the date, year group, pupil and adult numbers, language, space and required adjustments. Ask for the total price, change conditions, teacher responsibilities and contracted services. Discuss meals, transport and photographs separately. The earlier article claimed that the provider handled food and travel and guaranteed safety and educational outcomes.
