Hen parties in Spain: five destinations to compare

mejores destinos para despedida de soltera

Choosing a hen-party destination gets complicated quickly: one friend is flying in, another can stay for only one night, and someone has a much smaller budget. Agree on dates, a realistic total spend and the bride’s preferences before voting for a city.

These five Spanish destinations offer different starting points. This is a planning shortlist, not a ranking or a promise about nightlife.

Salamanca: build a weekend around the historic centre

Spain’s official tourism guide highlights Salamanca’s university heritage and Plaza Mayor. You could organise the weekend around walks and shared meals. Compare the journey from everyone’s starting point before deciding whether a one-night trip makes sense.

Seville: leave room between the sights

Use the official Seville guide to choose a base and a manageable number of visits. Leave time between bookings. If a local festival is part of the attraction, verify that year’s dates and accommodation availability before asking everyone to commit.

Ibiza: choose your base before your itinerary

A visit need not revolve entirely around clubs. Eivissa and the walled old town of Dalt Vila offer a cultural starting point too. Plot accommodation and activities on the same map: a cheaper room may mean more transfers. Check each venue’s programme for your actual travel dates.

Gijón: a northern city break

Use the Gijón tourism guide to plan your visits. A shared lunch and a walk can give the day a relaxed structure. Keep an indoor alternative for outdoor plans and work out how everyone will get back to the accommodation.

Málaga: be precise about where you are staying

Start with the official Málaga guide. If you are also considering Marbella, Fuengirola or Benalmádena, compare them as separate bases when calculating transport. Avoid booking accommodation in one place and every activity in another without checking the journey.

Compare the complete weekend

For each option, add travel, rooms, meals, activities and local transport. Record which payments are refundable and set a deadline for confirming attendance. Choose one main activity and keep the rest flexible.

Ask the bride what she would enjoy and what she would rather skip. A comfortable weekend shaped around the group is more useful than an ambitious itinerary nobody has agreed to.
