Turn a sketch into a specification
Prepare photographs and approximate measurements, but arrange final measurement before manufacture. Identify sockets, radiators, skirting, columns, door movement and the access route. For a wardrobe, sketch what will hang, fold or go into drawers; an attractive layout may be awkward in daily use.
Ask the quote to identify frame and front materials, relevant thicknesses, edges, backs, hardware and finish. Solid wood, faced board and wood veneer are not interchangeable descriptions. A physical sample helps agree colour and texture.
Fitting, changes and handover
Record approved dimensions, transport, fitting, removal of existing items, finishing details, taxes and timing. Ask how changes will be approved and who handles later adjustments. Is the lowest quote the best choice?
