The earlier version of this page previewed the iPhone 16 using rumors that became outdated. Apple introduced it on 9 September 2024. This revision focuses on the standard iPhone 16 and distinguishes it from Plus and Pro models. It is not an independent hands-on review.
Corrections to the earlier predictions
The phone uses the A18 chip and launched with iOS 18. Those confirmed details replace the old predictions of A17 Bionic and iOS 17. The suggestion of 120 Hz ProMotion has also been removed: a Pro display feature should not be attributed to the standard model.
Verified capabilities
Apple lists a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, a 48-megapixel Fusion main camera, a 12-megapixel Ultra Wide camera, the Action button and Camera Control. Its USB-C connection supports USB 2 transfer speeds up to 480 Mb/s. The connector’s shape does not imply USB 3 performance.
These details support comparisons of specific functions. They do not guarantee professional photographs or mean that every software feature is available in the same way to every user.
Assessing an offer
- Exact model: distinguish iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and other variants.
- Storage: estimate space for apps, photographs and video alongside your backup arrangements.
- Condition: for used or refurbished devices, request battery, repair-history and return-policy information.
- Software: check current compatibility and availability of the features you need.
- Total cost: separate outright purchase from financing and commitments attached to a mobile plan.
If your current phone works well, first identify the limitation you want to resolve. A particular camera capability, battery condition or storage capacity may matter more than a broad comparison between generations.
What this revision removes
Unverified predictions about materials, future improvements and environmental benefits have been removed. Launch pricing is not presented as a current offer. The image comes from Apple’s official announcement and replaces an older representation that did not correctly identify the finished product.
Is the launch version of iOS still the current version?
Not necessarily. iOS 18 describes the 2024 launch context. Check the version currently available and compatible with your device separately.
